Hurdles to overcome in the beginning
Affiliate marketing can be a fantastic way to earn income, but it comes with its fair share of challenges.
Finding products that are a good fit
One of the biggest hurdles that affiliate marketers face is finding high-quality products and services to promote. With so many options out there, it can be difficult to know which products and services are worth promoting and which ones are not.
This requires conducting research and understanding the market and the target audience. It's important to build relationships with product creators and service providers to gain insight into their offerings and how they may benefit your audience. By taking the time to find and promote quality products and services, you can build trust with your audience and establish yourself as an authority in your niche.
Building an audience
Another challenge of affiliate marketing is building a large and engaged audience. The more people you can reach, the more opportunities you have to earn commissions. However, building an audience takes time and effort. You need to create content that resonates with your audience, engage with them on social media, and continually provide value to keep them coming back for more.
This means responding to comments and messages, asking for feedback, and even sharing personal stories to create a connection. It's also important to be consistent with your content and engage with your audience regularly. This can help keep your audience engaged and interested in your content, and increase the chances of them taking action on your affiliate offers.
Adaption
Digital marketers need to continually adapt to changes in the market and the products and services being promoted. The online marketplace is constantly evolving, and what worked yesterday may not work today. As an affiliate marketer, you need to stay up-to-date on industry trends, be open to trying new strategies, and be willing to pivot when necessary.
Adapting to changes in the market and the products and services being promoted requires a willingness to try new things and be open to experimentation. This may involve testing different affiliate offers, experimenting with different marketing channels, and being willing to pivot when necessary. Staying up-to-date with industry trends and staying ahead of the competition can also be critical to success in affiliate marketing. With the right mindset and approach, you can overcome these challenges and build a successful affiliate marketing business.
Getting started
Despite these challenges, affiliate marketing can be a rewarding and lucrative business model. By putting in the time and effort to find quality products and services, build an engaged audience, and stay ahead of market changes, you can succeed in this competitive industry. So, if you're up for the challenge, affiliate marketing could be the perfect opportunity for you to turn your passion into profit. This starter guide is a great place to start learning.

Spending countless hours creating your own online course could only result in lackluster outcomes. Have you considered promoting someone else's course for commission instead? That's right, you can earn money by promoting other people's courses, and here are some reasons why it might be a better option than creating your own... right now
Less time for money
To start, promoting someone else's course means you don't have to invest time and money in creating and marketing your own course. We are busy. We have differing commitments but maybe still have the desire to occupy the online space in a bigger way. To do this you can simply sign up for an affiliate program, promote the course using your unique affiliate link, and earn a commission on any sales generated through your link. This saves you the hassle of creating and designing a course from scratch, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your business.
In the education niche affiliate commissions usually range between 30% and up to 90%. In courses where there is a subscription there are sometimes options to receive ongoing commission for a duration of time. Getting started is much quicker this way, and you could be up and running in less than a week.
Work towards passive
Promoting someone else's course allows you to earn passive income. Once you have promoted the course and generated sales, you can continue to earn commissions on any future sales without doing any additional work. This can provide a steady stream of income that requires minimal effort on your part.
Additionally, promoting someone else's course allows you to tap into an existing market and audience. When you create your own course, you have to build your audience and credibility from scratch. However, by promoting an existing course, you can leverage the course creator's reputation and audience to reach more potential customers. This can be especially beneficial if the course is already well-known and popular. I recommend taking the time to work through the course you are promoting, to ensure it is in line with your teaching philosophies and goals.
Finding the course for you
Now, you may be thinking, "But how do I find the right course to promote?" Well, it's simple. Look for courses that align with your audience and niche. Consider courses that offer a high commission rate and have a good reputation in the industry. Also, don't forget to use long-tail keywords like "best affiliate programs for bloggers" and "top online courses to promote for commission" to find relevant courses and affiliate programs to join.
So you can see that promoting someone else's course for commission can be a smart business move that saves you time, allows you to tap into an existing market, and provides passive income. Next time you're thinking about creating your own course, consider promoting someone else's course instead. With the right strategy and approach, it could be the key to unlocking a new revenue stream for your business.
A course that I love to promote is a marketing course. It ticks all the boxes for me:

As a music teacher, you may have heard of the term "marketing funnel," but might not be sure of what it actually means or how it can be beneficial for your business. In this blog post, we'll explain what a marketing funnel is and how you can implement it using free platforms like social media.
What is a marketing funnel
Simply put, a marketing funnel is a step-by-step process that guides potential customers towards a desired action, such as signing up for your music lessons or buying your instructional books. It involves creating a series of marketing materials, such as social media posts, emails, or videos, that are designed to build awareness, interest, desire, and finally, prompt the customer to take action.
Social media is a great free platform to implement a marketing funnel because it allows you to reach a large audience with little to no cost. Here are some steps you can take to implement a marketing funnel using social media:
Awareness:
This is the top of the funnel, where you want to attract potential customers and make them aware of your music teaching business. Post engaging content on social media that showcases your expertise and teaching style, such as short videos of you teaching or photos of your students performing. Use relevant hashtags to help your content reach a wider audience. This can be achieved by using various marketing channels such as social media, SEO, paid advertising, or word-of-mouth referrals
Interest:
Once potential customers are aware of your business, you want to build their interest by providing them with valuable content. Share helpful tips, industry news, or blog posts that are relevant to your teaching niche. Encourage them to engage with your content by asking questions or running polls. You can also use lead magnets, such as free ebooks or webinars, to capture their contact information and build your email list. To manage your content and email marketing efforts, you can use tools such as a content management system (CMS), email marketing software, or marketing automation tools.
Desire:
As customers start to show interest, you want to create a desire for your products or services. This can be achieved by offering freebies, such as a free lesson or ebook, that showcases your teaching style and the benefits of your lessons. To manage your sales process and customer relationship management (CRM), you can use tools such as a customer relationship management (CRM) software, appointment scheduling software, or sales funnel software.
Action:
The final step is to prompt the customer to take action, such as signing up for your lessons or buying your instructional books. Create clear and compelling calls-to-action that direct customers to your website or booking page.To manage your sales transactions and payment processing, you can use tools such as an e-commerce platform, payment gateway, or invoicing software.
By implementing a marketing funnel using social media, you can build awareness, interest, desire, and prompt customers to take action without spending a dime on advertising. Give it a try and see how it can benefit your music teaching business.
How to upskill your marketing knowledge
I learned how to build an effective marketing funnel through a comprehensive marketing course that I completed. This course taught me the importance of creating engaging content, building a strong email list, and using various marketing channels to drive traffic to my website. If you're interested in learning more about building a marketing funnel for your business, I highly recommend checking out this course. With the right strategies and tools in place, you can take your business to the next level and achieve your goals.

What is a VA
In today's digital age, many businesses and individuals are turning to virtual assistants to help manage their administrative tasks. A virtual assistant, or VA, is a remote worker who provides administrative, technical, or creative assistance to clients from a remote location. Virtual assistants can perform a wide range of tasks, from managing email and scheduling appointments to social media management and bookkeeping. By hiring a virtual assistant, clients can offload time-consuming administrative tasks and focus on more high-value activities.
Flexibility for the win
About three years ago I successfully landed my first Virtual Assistant position with another music teacher. The work started at about 5 hours a week, monitoring their emails. Over time it has ebbed and flowed, but is between 5-10 hours a week, every week of the year.
Skills ready to be monetised
Many other teachers will usually respond that their admin skills are not up to scratch, but I disagree. There are common admin tasks that almost every music teacher does, that is desirable and in demand in the virtual assistant arena.
If you can do any of these things:
- Reply to customer enquiries
- Schedule emails
- Schedule social media posts
- Write website copy
- Send out emails
Free training to get you started
Then you likely already have skills that are useful to others as a VA. Becoming a VA can feel daunting, especially alongside an existing business, and that's why I recommend this free 5 day kickstart challenge.
The challenges happen every second month, are obligation free and the sessions and workbook are invaluable resources to get a better idea on how to add a side gig to your studio as a VA.
